Happily Never After
Helpless When She Smiles

okay, so if these two songs had to fight it out to be the first single, I would vote for 'Helpless...' hands DOWN. seriously, guys. the vocals. seriously. THIS IS WHAT A VOCAL GROUP SOUNDS LIKE, YOU GUYS.

I'm a house of cards in a hurricane.
*flails a lot*

and the sudden pause with the vocals following it had me hiding my face in my hands to stop the squeaky happy noises from coming out.

people have been comparing 'Helpless...' to Incomplete a lot but this is so much better, imo. (er, Incomplete wasn't my favourite BSB song btw.) and did you hear the Brian/AJ during the chorus? (at least, I think it was Bri/AJ beneath Nick's voice.)

Hi, Boys! *more incoherence*

ETA: the song's been on repeat for the past hour. I'm still not over it. thisissogood.

ETA2: wow, Brian. how is your voice quite but commanding all at once?
also, THE WAILING GUITARS OMG. and the twinkling piano underneath. and someone should conduct a study on how they harmonize RIGHT NOW.

all on Sendspace since Mediafire is being a bitch.

so, hey, do you guys know Regina Spektor? I feel sorry for you :(

she sort-of raps! she sings! she beatboxes! she plays piano!

Consequence of Sound
my rhyme ain't good just yet
my brain and tongue just met
and they ain't friends, so far
my words don't travel far
it's sparse but fast-paced and I really love it.

20 Years of Snow
his daughter is twenty years of snow falling
she's twenty years of strangers looking into each other's eyes
she's twenty years of clean
she never truly hated anyone or anything
this song probably has the most perfect title ever. the piano sounds exactly like how I imagine falling snow would sound like.

(I know most of my flist probably already know Regina Spektor 'cause you're all cool like that but JUST IN CASE)

I usually get some of my music from fuelfriends, a music blog by Heather, this woman who just genuinely loves music. she's incredibly passionate about it and she's a huge Pearl Jam fan. it's fun! go check it out. (uh, this part of the post has nothing to do with the earlier part.)

eta: dude, it's like Post A Lot of Music Day on my flist. this day is definitely looking up.

I hope Mediafire works for you guys. if it doesn't, tell me and I'll re-up them on another server.

- You Can't Always Get What You Want [The Rolling Stones]
E - Easy Tonight [Five For Fighting]
T - Toasted Skin (Summer Song) [The Academy Is...]
U - Underground [Ben Folds Five]
N - Not So Usual [Jason Mraz]
K - Koka Kola [The Clash]
N - No Right Angles [Ben Lee]
O - Out There [The Caesars]
W - Wicked Little High [Bird York]
N - New Shoes [Paolo Nutini]

that was fun! if you're in a mellow mood, I recommend Ben Lee or Bird York. But Koka Kola is totally fun (maybe my idea of fun is weird?) and You Can't Always... is awesome with the choir. also, that Ben Folds Five song cracks me up.

Put media player on shuffle. Upload first five songs to appear.

Little - Something Corporate
climbing out of the sky a man who could fly
and a painting anyone could play
it's a comic book crush that thought you to trust

Naive (The Kooks cover) - Lily Allen
how could this be done
by such a smiling sweetheart

As You Sleep (acoustic) - Something Corporate
in the car
the radio leaves me searching for your star
a constellation of frustration driving hard

Wine Red - The Hush Sound
this chaos, this calamity
this garden once was perfect
give your immortality to me

You - Switchfoot
I find peace when I'm confused
I find hope when I'm let down
yetunknown: (Default)

I found this recording of Paul McCartney playing songs as Linda took photos. You can hear her camera clicking away and singing sweetly along sometimes. there's also a few snippets of conversation and Paul asking her "can we go out and play now?" It made me incredibly happy and incredibly sad at the same time. okay, fuck it, I cried, alright? fucking hormones. *sniff*

Photoshoot Medley

[Error: unknown template 'video']

carl and didz are wasted. and Noel manages to get in a dig about Liam, heh.

and guys!

Marit Bergman - My Love (Justin Timberlake cover)

it is awesome. it's acoustic but there's a really neat harmonica part and the girl's voice is perfect.

Dude, I just found out the Arctic Monkeys have a track named Chun Li's Spinning Bird Kick. I obviously need to hear this.
yetunknown: (Default)
songs that I am constantly listening to:

The Strokes - You Only Live Once
it's about someone wondering about life and people and relationships but not in the dreary, 'I wish I'd never been born' way. the lyrics are full of hope and it just cheers me up, y'know? and hi, Albert's guitar solo! *goes all flail-y*

Backstreet Boys - Song For The Unloved
glamorously looonelyyy.... Oh, AJ. How well you stand up for those who are unloved with your amazing voice. Oh, Backstreet, where art thou? this is just a beautiful song, man. amazing vocals. I have no idea why it didn't make it onto the album.

Dirty Pretty Things - Gin & Milk
hey, anyone who can include the words "rudimentary crackwhore" in a song and make it sound amazing is a genius, okay? Carl, go and make out up with Pete, damn you!

The SLIP - Children of December
I've been reccing this song eveywhere. the lyrics are witty, the melody is laidback yet exciting and it makes me laugh. seriously, you will like this song. Download it now. *Jedi mindtrick*

Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle [wma]
when you hear the beginning of this song, you just know it's going to be awesome. the drums! the guitars! oh, Zak Starkey, even though you have only one suit jacket that you wear all the time (you're Ringo Starr's kid and you play for Oasis and The Who. surely you can afford more than one? it is an awesome jacket, though.) you have brought something to Oasis that I greatly appreciate. and Noel! singing in falsetto! (take note, Justin Timberlake. he sings in falsetto, yet does not abuse it like you do. in every. goddamn. song.)
yetunknown: (Default)
so, I won't be doing anything for the first three months (?) of next year. I'm thinking of taking up guitar lessons. any thoughts?

and hey, song recs (again)

Oasis - Half The World Away (live)
I think Noel's voice is pretty underrated. and he's pretty consistent, unlike Liam. okay, that's not saying much. but his voice is good. plus, the crowd sings along, which I love.

Oasis - Live Forever (acoustic)
classic song. and dude, Liam sings acoustic, which is pretty damn rare.
yetunknown: (Default)
I am in the midst of finals. I think I did... ok in the last few papers but I don't know. next week is Islamic Ed, Add Maths, Physics and Chemistry. then, my teacher decided that we have to do the project paper for Add Maths after the written papers.

my family's also planning to go to KL after exams to celebrate my sister finishing her exams, my brother finally getting a degree [my brother is very nice but sort of weird. he has a job and is already getting a raise after only six months (he seems to really like his job and his colleagues seem to like him back) but still doesn't have an official degree] and me and my (little) sister finishing exams. I think my mom just wants to go Christmas shopping. we're staying there until New Year's and my access to the internet over there is in doubt.

so, the point --> I may not be able to log in for a while, which makes me very sad because I seem to be addicted to LJ. also, sorry if I haven't been commenting/replying to comments much.

I think I need to buy Oasis' Stop The Clocks. y'know, because of the brotherly Gallagher love and stuff. am also thinking of downloading Don't Believe The Truth. but later, later.

I leave you with some of the few more imaginative lyrics I've been listening to the past few days.

Your grand dad left home for the circus
He was young just like me
With hope to explore
He married a girl in Virginia
She could swing the trapeze
They could sleep on the floor

Your mother was born in December
On that one sunny day that winter gave up
With warm summer eyes
That flickered like fireflies
When she stared at the world

-Walking By, Something Corporate

Step out the front door like a ghost in the fog
Where no one notices the contrast of white on white
In between the moon and you
The angels get a better view
Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right
I walk in the air between the rain through myself and back again
Where? I don't know
Maria says she's dying
Through the door I hear her crying
Why? I don't know

Round here we always stand up straight
Round here something radiates

-Round Here, Counting Crows

so, if something happens (Brendon and Ryan make out onstage, the Carters do anything stupid or if you need a hug or just plain bored) leave a comment in this post. okay? promise? okay.
yetunknown: (Default)
wake up lying in a patch of four-leaf clover
and you're restless
and I'm naked
you've got to get out
you can't stand to see me shaking

Hi, I'm Konstantine by Something Corporate and I'm [info]yetunknown's most recent song obsession. My lyrics have been described as "masterful" and I'm very piano-driven with an amazing melody to boot. give me a listen?

seriously, though. this song has been stuck in my head for days. SoCo/JM fans have probably heard this song countless times but I just heard it a few days ago. It's melancholic and incredibly beautiful. the piano throughout the song owns and so do the lyrics. fans have speculated about the exact meaning of the song but since the band have decided to be cryptic and refused to comment, nobody really knows. the fact that Andrew McMahon doesn't sing this as Jack's Mannequin adds to the mystery. so, um, if you don't want me to keep on babbling, go listen.

and if you liked that, maybe you'll like this, too

Hurricane (weather patterns)
now I count the hours til you wake
with your baby's breath breathe symphonies
come on, sweet catastrophe

I love the lyrics for this one but I also love the part where the band just stops. for the piano solo and picks right back up.

2 questions:

Is Billy Joe Armstrong (that singer from Green Day) married?

are the Madden Twins totally identical?

and damn, I'm sorta liking The Kill by 30 Seconds To Mars.

in other news, I don't have tuition until Wednesday night. this is good because I just ate a lot for lunch and now I need to work it off.

Tomorrow: possible Bio test. urgh.

Song recs! [sendspace]

Naive (The Kooks cover) - Lily Allen
much better vocals than the original. she's added piano to the song and it has a sort of acoustic feel to it.
I know that she knows
but I'm not fond of asking
true or false it may be
but she's still out to get me

Here (In Your Arms) - Hellogoodbye
this song makes me ridiculously happy everytime I hear it. the lyrics are totally schmoopy but man, it's schmoop that makes me happy. and I really like the melody.
I fell in love, in love with you silently
now there's no place else I could be
but here in your arms

Magnolia - The Hush Sound
I admit, I've been sort of obsessed with this song recently. I'm not really sure what's the real story behind this song but from the lyrics, you can decipher that the person in this song is being abused and the singer is urging her to seek help. plus, I love Greta's voice.
your eyes are like sea glass
so weathered and worn
from all they've seen of adolescence torn

EDIT: I've corrected the link for 'Magnolia'. very sorry about that.
yetunknown: (Default)
man, I'm loving this song

Watch The Sky - Something Corporate

I will crawl
There's things that aren't worth giving up, I know
But I won't let this get me
I will fight
You live the life you're given with the storms outside
Some days all I do is watch the sky

and yeah, I watched SPN 201. all I can say is:

damn you, Kripke!

I'm hooked.

Hey Ya (Outkast cover) - Will Young

just. WOW, okay. WOW. I am in love with Will Young because of this cover. it's nothing like the original (and better, IMO). everybody should listen to this, for serious. even if you hate Will Young or Outkast, listen.

*continues flailing*

Hate Me - Blue October

oh. this was recommended by[profile] nz_bonjovi_gal and I haven't even finished listening to it yet (it's playing right now) and I'm already in love with it. oh, the story you can hear behind this song. but I can't really make out the monolouge at the start and end. anyone have any ideas?

I'm sure I've heard this before, or at least part of it, but I don't know when/where. I'm pretty sure it's not on the radio. tv, maybe?
yetunknown: (Default)
by request of [personal profile] jstabe but everyone should see this because Nick looked like this:

is it weird that I find Jensen Ackles hot/beautiful/pretty but I am not attracted at all to Dean (Supernatural)? I think it's weird. maybe i just need to re-watch Supernatural.

and I need to but Everything In Transit. Why isn't it in stores over in Malaysia? *rages*

other albums I need to buy:
-- From Under The Cork Tree - Fall Out Boy
-- A Fever YOu Can't Sweat Out Of - Panic! At The Disco (still not available here, apparently)
-- Eyes Open - Snow Patrol
-- Goo Goo Dolls new album? (need to think about this one first)

I was thinking as i was jogging this morning and I started thinking about bands.
hey, does anybody know if Alexis Bledel and that Milo Ventiwhatshisname guy who played Jess in GG are still dating? they were cute.

Kill The Messenger (Acoustic) - Jack's Mannequin
And all the colors got so dim
It's not as cold out here
But come quick, I am losing feeling

and now, I will go shoe-shopping. \o/

Samuel L Jackson on The Daily Show. Funniest. Shit. Ever. They swear a lot. They pose together. They touch a lot. They're like two teenaged boys, man. If you're having a bad day, this is definitely the clip to cheer you up.

and dude. Something Corporate covering Bittersweet Symphony. *loves*

also, I love the fact that Andrew McMahon swears a lot on stage.

Bittersweet Symphony - Something Corporate

also, does anybody know who wrote By My Side (BSB)? I love that song.

and dude, what is up with the Firefox browser? It's minimizing itself randomly.

EDIT: dude I have to stop saying the word 'dude' so much.
yetunknown: (Default)
I finally, finally made myself a Willaim Beckett icon:

Rock star! Bill. it's not very good (it's pretty crappy, actually) but taking into account my extensive knowledge of icon-making (none) I think I should give myself a pat on the back. the only thing I did was crop it and adjusted the midtones, brightness and contrast a tiny bit.

It was originally from this picture

I really should learn how to make icons properly, huh? It would save me a lot of grief.

Also, I nearly forgot how much I love Tiny Dancer by Elton John and Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson. *gasp* practically blasphemy, I know. I think I need to pace myself while listening to songs or I'll burn out on them. and some songs are just too good for that.

continuing my pimping of The Hush Sound, I give you another song.

Don't Wake Me Up - The Hush Sound
the light had slipped through the window
the morning ripped you away, oh

yetunknown: (Default)
[profile] turloughishere has some wonderful new Hitmen! BSB icons here.

I grabbed some:

and apparently, i really am getting addicted. I love Weeping Willow by The Hush Sound. Greta's voice is amazing. and it goes surprisingly well with Bob's voice in Wine Red. Seriously, how can they be so talented at such a young age? I'd be jealous if I didn't love their songs so much.

Weeping Willow - The Hush Sound
summer was painted on our skin
and those secrets hidden in our childish lips
they'd die for a kiss
