does anyone here use MSN Messenger? if so, can you please explain to me how I can get my Messenger to notify me when I receive an e-mail? it does that on my desktop but I can't figure out how to make it work on my laptop/notebook/whatever they call it these days.

nvm. a friend helped me upgrade it. he also uploaded a whole bunch of software (Spybot, ITunes, Limewire, etc) while he was at it. *g* I really love having friends who are total computer geeks =D

okay, so you know that scene in late season 2?
I will give you cookies and my eternal love if you can provide me with screencaps of that scene. or, um, songs? I can offer songs!

hey, so What Goes Around...? that's JC singing in there, right?

also, what the heck does FTW mean?

item the first:
I just saw someone apologising because he assumed the person he was talking to celebrated Christmas. am I insensitive? I mean, I've never heard someone apologising for something like that before. do other people really do that? um, over here we celebrate everything, your religion/race/favourite drink doesn't really matter. (seriously, everything. Aidilfitri, Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Wesak Day... you name it, we'll cook a feast for it and have open houses.)

so, educate me?

item the second:
I just found out that my brother isn't cranky at all first thing in the morning. he's actually quite chipper. I'm starting to doubt whether we're really related at all.

item the third:

[profile] academy_icons I've just discovered this. I'm tempted to post all my unused Beckett icons there but. but. wouldn't that be cheating? I mean, they're not exactly recent. or very outstanding, for that matter. none of them have text or, you know, took a lot of creativity. *ponders*

also, hey, a more upbeat post will follow (if I can muster up the energy, that is. we just had a barbeque. I am full). and, yeah, I'm just using this icon because it's cute. which reminds me. I need to get back to my SeSa reading.

EDIT:

I am never going to view Mary Poppins the same way again.

blame Neil Gaiman, man.

so, I won't be doing anything for the first three months (?) of next year. I'm thinking of taking up guitar lessons. any thoughts?

and hey, song recs (again)

Oasis - Half The World Away (live)
I think Noel's voice is pretty underrated. and he's pretty consistent, unlike Liam. okay, that's not saying much. but his voice is good. plus, the crowd sings along, which I love.

Oasis - Live Forever (acoustic)
classic song. and dude, Liam sings acoustic, which is pretty damn rare.

guys, I need help. do any of you know of a good recipe for mashed potato gravy? my mom wants to make some and hearing her talk about it is making me crave homemade mashed potato. please?

and can I ask for another favour? could you guys posibly rec me one book (non-fiction, sci-fi, anything) and one song (you don't have to upload it for me or anything, just state the title and artist)? pretty please?

2 questions:

Is Billy Joe Armstrong (that singer from Green Day) married?

are the Madden Twins totally identical?

and damn, I'm sorta liking The Kill by 30 Seconds To Mars.

in other news, I don't have tuition until Wednesday night. this is good because I just ate a lot for lunch and now I need to work it off.

Tomorrow: possible Bio test. urgh.

Song recs! [sendspace]

Naive (The Kooks cover) - Lily Allen
much better vocals than the original. she's added piano to the song and it has a sort of acoustic feel to it.
I know that she knows
but I'm not fond of asking
true or false it may be
but she's still out to get me

Here (In Your Arms) - Hellogoodbye
this song makes me ridiculously happy everytime I hear it. the lyrics are totally schmoopy but man, it's schmoop that makes me happy. and I really like the melody.
I fell in love, in love with you silently
now there's no place else I could be
but here in your arms

Magnolia - The Hush Sound
I admit, I've been sort of obsessed with this song recently. I'm not really sure what's the real story behind this song but from the lyrics, you can decipher that the person in this song is being abused and the singer is urging her to seek help. plus, I love Greta's voice.
your eyes are like sea glass
so weathered and worn
from all they've seen of adolescence torn

EDIT: I've corrected the link for 'Magnolia'. very sorry about that.

okay, dude, someone posted the Something Corporate live at Ventura Theater DVD at [profile] mp3_share. but. there are no download slots available right now, which makes me want to bite someone. I desperately need that.

I've been pretty productive today, catching up on schoolwork. It seems that having my (older) brother around motivates me, for some reason. huh, who knew?

speaking of that, the whole family's home right now for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. :D everyone's been getting along fine (so far), which is a relief. no screaming matches, yay! the only thing I have to complain about is the sleeping arrangement. there's my parents, me, my brother, and my two sisters. there's a double bed (for the parents) and three single beds. do the math.

(and guess who had to sleep on the floor last night and got stepped on and got backache the next morning? yup. oh, well.)

one more thing. right now, I'm using Firefox but I also have IE on my desktop. that's fine and dandy except for the fact that the browser keeps popping up randomly while I'm using Firefox. anyone know anything about that?

is that all? I think that's all.

oh,

HAPPY AIDILFITRI even to those of you who don't celebrate it. (since everyone celebrates everything around here, I think you all should, too. :))

p.s. I just drank, like, 3 different kinds of Starbucks coffee earlier so I think they're holding a violent demonstration in my stomach right now. I am also very awake.

EDIT: I just installed the Gizmo Project for LJ Talk thingy O.o

EDIT2: I just updated my !playlist post with some of the videos I have.

Samuel L Jackson on The Daily Show. Funniest. Shit. Ever. They swear a lot. They pose together. They touch a lot. They're like two teenaged boys, man. If you're having a bad day, this is definitely the clip to cheer you up.

and dude. Something Corporate covering Bittersweet Symphony. *loves*

also, I love the fact that Andrew McMahon swears a lot on stage.

Bittersweet Symphony - Something Corporate

also, does anybody know who wrote By My Side (BSB)? I love that song.

and dude, what is up with the Firefox browser? It's minimizing itself randomly.

EDIT: dude I have to stop saying the word 'dude' so much.

I'm actually thinking of watching Snakes On A Plane when it comes out. I don't usually like thrillers that take place on any mode of transportation (Poseidon, Red Eye, etc) but I'm pretty curious about this one just because of the amount of publicity on the 'net. (peer pressure, it works.)

and hey, lj people. how would you term/define a sell-out? do you even agree with the term 'sell-out'? I'm curious to know what everybody else thinks.

also, I'm using my Nick/Aaron icon because it has been neglected lately. also because I just downloaded HOC footage from [personal profile] erilyn. I can't wait! Oct 2!
yetunknown: (Default)
Question, please?

What's up with this Vox thing I've been hearing about lately? I checked out the homepage and it seems pretty much like Friendster to me.

and who else has one (except for [personal profile] applecede, of course)? and how do you get one?

okay, that was more like 'questions' rather than 'question'.

and hey, I'm dl'ing eps of So You Think You Can Dance. I really need to stop this whole seeking out new fandoms thing. I do not have the time.

I better sleep since I have to run 3-4km tomorrow. I'm really thrilled about it. uh-huh. (sarcasm, in case you didn't catch it the first time.)
